Abinaya Priya Venkataraman

Biography
Abinaya Priya Venkataraman works as an assistant professor at the division of eye and vision at Karolinska Institute, Sweden. She is very interested in visual optics, psychophysics and structural/functional correlates. That interest she takes into her research when not teaching at the optometry programme.
Abinaya trained as an optometrist from 2006 to 2011, before obtaining her PhD on Vision beyond the fovea: Evaluation and stimuli properties. Her hard work has resulted in over 20 academic articles on eye care and evaluation tools.
She has done in-depth examinations of retinal layers and the peripheral spatiotemporal contrast sensitivity function in “healthy” eyes and written about different evaluation methods for treating and examining patients struggling with sight loss.
