Jiska van Dam-Veldhoen
Professional Advancement Manager at Specsavers Netherlands
Biography
Jiska grew up in an optics and optometry family in the north of the Netherlands. “Born between the frames”, she always jokes.
After her education to become an optician, she studied optometry in Utrecht. She graduated in 1999 and worked in different settings after that: she’s been a practical contact lens lecturer and worked in both optical stores and eye hospitals.
After a break – because of delivering four kids, including triplets, and an adventure abroad in Sweden – Jiska went back to work. She worked in an eye clinic for several years, focussing on patient care, and loved working in collaboration with ophthalmologists.
Jiska is passionate about the development of optometry and optometrists. That’s why she loves working at Specsavers – she joined the company almost four years ago. As a Professional Advancement manager, she’s involved in projects about education, quality, development, and clinical innovation in eye care.
During Clinical Conference 2022 Jiska took part in a panel discussion. The panel discussion is available here on Viewpoint.
